HYDERABAD:The residents of Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) can soon pay their water bills and property taxes online. A proposal to this effect was approved in the SCB board meeting held here on Tuesday by the board members.
There are about 50,000 water connections and property connections in SCB limits and if the new online payment system comes into place, residents will be relieved of coming all the way to SCB office for making payments every time and standing in long queues for payment.
Right now there is only one counter for receiving all the bills. Though the number of tax payers is increasing SCB is not able to increase the counters due to staff crunch. Online system is being planned to avoid all these hassles, Sujatha Gupta chief executive officer of SCB, said.
Though SCB has earlier collaborated with ‘AP Online’ for implementation of online system, it has not been functioning satisfactorily and a lot of complaints were being made by the residents.
The proposed new system will include online payment linked with one of the banks through SCB website, by installing a payment gateway.
Besides kiosks are also planned at select bank branches to guide people about online payment.
‘’We will make efforts to bring the online system within two months,’’ S Keshava Reddy, vice-president of SCB, said.
The board meeting also approved various development works like construction and maintenance of drains, roads and laying of water pipelines to a tune of Rs 12 crore.
SCB president AS Negi, cantonment MLA G Sayanna, SCB members, officials, were among those present at the meeting.
