HYDERABAD: The Harry Potter fever gripped the city as the eighth book of the series ‘Harry Potter And The Cursed Child: Part I & II’ by JK Rowling was released here on Sunday. The book was released nearly nine years after the last book ‘Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows’. Neither the overcast sky nor the heavy rains that lashed the city could deter the enthusiasm of Potterheads. While most of them eagerly waited at book stores across the city, some of them retorted to online shopping to buy their copies. It was raining profits for the bookstores across the city, as copies of the novel were flying off the shelves.
Popular bookstore, Landmark also organised a magic show and quiz competition based on the Potter series for Children. Children and even youngsters were dressed in their favourite Hogwards costume and sported trendy accessories to show their love for the fictional character.
“The book was launched at 11am this morning and since then a lot of people have come to buy the novel. We had ordered 300 copies, of which more than 100 were sold within an hour of the release. We are confident that all the 300 copies will be sold off by the end of the day,” said Satish Kumar, store manager of the Begumpet outlet. “I have been a Harry Potter fan since childhood. I hope to pass on this craze to my children too,” Shraddha, a parent said. “Rowling never fails to enthral readers with her imagination and writing,” she added. “After nine years I’m going to read a new book in the series. I am so happy that my wait is finally over,” said Aryan, a 19 year-old college student.
