TIRUPATI: TOLLYWOOD star Pawan Kalyan on Thursday said P Vinod Royal, the fan who was allegedly murdered by fans of NTR Junior after a quarrel in Kolar, Karnataka last week, was an inspiration to all because he pledged his eyes for organ donation. Stating that Vinod was actively involved in social work, the actor said fans tend not to understand that actors get along well together.
On August 21, Vinod, a member of the Pawan Fans Association in Tirupati, went to Kolar, where an NGO named Happy Life run by one Renuka organised an organ donation awareness programme. The NGO had several Pawan Kalyan fans associated with it.
He actively took part in the programme and pledged to donate his eyes. Speaking to mediapersons on the occasion, he extolled Pawan Kalyan and his style, popularly called Pawanism by his fans. “We are not just fans who celebrate the success of our hero’s films, but also actively take his idea of social service seriously,” he said.
However, his slogans of ‘Jai Pawanism’ provoked an NTR Junior fan named Sunil and his friends into an argument. Bystanders intervened and pacified them. Later, when Vinod and a couple of his friends were leaving for Tirupati in their car, he was asked aside by the group he had a quarrel with.
They took him 10 feet away from the car. After a few minutes, an argument flared up. When Vinod’s friends rushed to the spot, they found him in a pool of blood with stab wounds. He was shifted to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Recalling that day, his mother P Vedavathi said, “I had spoken to him just a few minutes before he was to start out from Kolar. The next call I get is that he is in intensive care after a quarrel. When I reached Kolar, I found him no more.” Vinod’s father P Venkatesh said, “I will not wish this upon my worst enemy. All I want is justice for my child, who dreamed or serving society and setting up an industry to provide jobs to 200 people.” He was their only son. Of the three people who are said to have attacked Vinod that day, police have arrested one Akshay Kumar, while the other two, Sunil and Trinath Chowdary, are absconding.
