HYDERABAD: Producer of film `Vangaveeti’ has decided to delete offending portions of the songs in the film after High Court issued notices to director Ram Gopal Varma and film’s producer Dasari Kiran Kumar and directed the Censor Board not to issue the censor certificate until the case is resolved.
The producer gave an undertaking to the court in this regard on Friday.
Justice Raja Elango was dealing with a writ petition filed by V Radha Krishna, son of late Vangaveeti Ranga, complaining that the teaser/trailer on social media has some derogatory comments on major castes and it may flare up emotions.
The Court had earlier issued notices to film director Ram Gopal Varma and producer Dasari Kiran Kumar to respond by Dec 2 on a plea seeking directions to stop giving film censor certificate to ‘Vangaveeti’ which is reportedly being made on the life of slain Congress leader Vangaveeti Ranga who was murdered in 1988 in Vijayawada.
On Friday, the petitioner’s counsel contended that the film makers had twisted the facts and expressed an apprehension that this may lead to fresh friction in the society. He also raised objections about the release of teaser of the movie and the uploading of the same on social media platforms even before the movie got censor board clearance. Such a tendency goes against the provisions of Cinematography Act, he added. The counsel appearing for the producer submitted that the offending portions of the song and scenes are being deleted.
Taking these submissions into consideration, the judge disposed off the case
