HYDERABAD: The pet care industry in Hyderabad is pegged at a whopping Rs 500 crore as more and more people are adopting pets to de-stress their busy lives.
To cater to such a large number of pet lovers, Petex 2016, a first-of-its-kind show is being held at Hitex. It will provide all the required know-how about pets and products related to them.
Right from showcasing various breeds of pets, pet foods, pet accessories to obedience show, agility show, breed show and other events will be held during the show on Sunday. “While all over India the pet care industry is pegged at `5,000 crore, in Hyderabad alone its size will be easily about more than `500 crore. But still Hyderabad pet care industry is mostly unorgansied and needs professional inputs and products. As more and more people are adopting pets in the city, we want to provide them with knowledge and pet care products from all over the globe,” said Nagendra Prasad, COO of Hitex, explaining about the show. Hitex, in association with Hyderabad Canine Club, has come up with the idea of organising Petex in city and the organisers want to make it even bigger by making it an annual event with the hope of drawing pet lovers from all parts of India.
“Hyderabad is a pet-friendly city and more and more people are adopting pets to destress themselves. This show is held to bring pet lovers under one roof. We are also making people, especially children, a part of this show in a big way. A breed show will be held on the occasion, in which more than 50 breeds of dogs from all the over country will be shown,” explained Neetu Butt, managing committee member of The Hyderabad Canine Club.
The breed show titled ‘Hycan 2016’ is held as part of show and will see the best breeds of dogs perform various feats on Sunday. While Petex focused mostly on dogs, other pets like birds, fish, cats, rabbits and horses are also part of the show.
