HYDERABAD: A day after three top officials of Biochemical and Synthetic Products private limited were arrested, after two labourers died inside a manhole in the company’s Sanathnagar unit on Monday, the police have said that a team would soon be despatched to Mumbai to arrest HM Mathias, the 70-year-old CMD of the company.  Mathias has been booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, attempt to commit culpable homicide and endangering life or personal safety of others.

The CEO, Purchase Manager and Electric Engineer of the firm, who were arrested on Tuesday, were denied bail when they approached the court on Wednesday. The are currently under judicial remand in Cherlapally jail. “We do not know the CMD’s address yet. Once we find out we will send a team to Mumbai to arrest her,” said Sanathnagar Inspector E Venkat Reddy.

Meanwhile, Narasimhulu, who worked as a welder with the company for the last six years and was allegedly forced to enter the manhole to save the duo, is still in the hospital. “He has regained consciousness and has identified his family members,” said doctors.

“He will be shifted to the general ward tomorrow,” they added. Narasimhulu’s wife alleged that company officials are yet to visit them in hospital. S Pallavi said that only a supervisor has visited them to enquire about her husband’s health. The family is demanding a compensation of `10 lakh, the same amount that was promised to families of the dead labourers.
