Vikram Goud shot; Suicide bid or murder attempt, wonder cops

Three gunshots were heard and ex-minister M Mukesh Goud’s son Vikram Goud, a youth Congress leader, was found lying in a pool of blood in the drawing room of his new Hafeezbabanagar residence.

HYDERABAD: Three gunshots were heard and ex-minister M Mukesh Goud’s son Vikram Goud, a youth Congress leader, was found lying in a pool of blood in the drawing room of his new Hafeezbabanagar residence in Banjara Hills at around 2.30 am on Friday. His wife Shipali rushed him to a private hospital in Banjara Hills. But police investigating the case are baffled as to how Vikram came to be found in that condition.

According to Shipali’s statements, Vikram had been seated on the sofa in the hall browsing on his phone at the time of the gunshots. In her complaint, she told police she had been getting ready to go to a temple when her husband received bullet injuries.

“As I started shouting, the cook and security man posted at outhouse rushed to the hall. While being shifted to hospital, Vikram told me that unknown miscreants opened fire at him,” her complaint reads. Police registered cases under section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC and took up probe. However, police indicate Shipali’s account does not tally with evidence from the crime scene.

In fact, based on shells recovered from the scene of the crime and the opinion of the doctor s treating Vikram, investigators are of the view that the incident could have actually been a failed suicide bid.
