

HYDERABAD: The director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVP NPA), a director-general rank police officer, will get the apex scale pay of Rs 80,000 per month soon. The Union ministry of home affairs has written to the state government seeking comments on the proposals to provide apex pay scale to all DG-rank officers of central agencies. According to sources, the finance ministry had issued orders in 2008 that the DGs and paramilitary forces would get fixed apex pay scale of Rs 80,000. Based on the order, the ministry of home affairs formed an appointment of a committee of the cabinet (ACC) to study the matter.
Following the recommendations of ACC, the ministry of home affairs made proposals for granting apex pay scale to the DG rank officers of Intelligence Bureau (IB), Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Border Security Forces (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Security Guards (NSG), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and others.
In the letter, Rajesh Kumar Yadav, secretary in the central government, asked the state chief secretary that the MHA, in consultation with the department, proposes to amend IPS pay rules, 2016. As part of the amendment rules, the DG rank holders of central agencies including National Police Academy director, the apex pay scale to be given as decided by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet. Yadav further requested the chief secretary to furnish comments on the proposed amendments by October 5 falling which it would be presumed that the state government had no comments to offer. Sources told Express that the central government had taken such a step keeping seniority of officers in view.
