Hyderabad drug case: Actor Nandu grilled for three hours by SIT

A four-member team questioned him about allegations that he takes drugs and also has links with peddlers arrested in the case.

HYDERABAD: Telugu film actor Ananda Krishna alias Nandu was grilled for three hours by the Special Investigation Team of Prohibition and Excise department in connection with the ongoing probe of drugs racket on Tuesday.Nandu, the 12th person to be questioned by SIT, had claimed innocence before he had received notices.The Enforcement wing of Excise department had caught the alleged kingpin of the drugs racket - Calvin Mascarenhas on July 2, along with two others, on charges of peddling LSDs and other drugs to public in Hyderabad.


The SIT formed to probe the case, had served notices to 12 people from film industry including film stars including Ravi Teja, Charmme Kaur and Mumaith Khan, Tarun, Navdeep, Subbaraju besides director Puri Jagannadh, art director Dharma Rao, cinematographer Shyam K Naidu. The officials said they have analysed the call detail records and WhatsApp conversations of Calvin in which several numbers including the people from Telugu film industry were present, due to which the summons were issued.


Nandu appeared before the SIT office at 10.30 am on Tuesday. A four-member team of officials questioned the actor for just three hours and let him off. It is learnt that the grilling did not fetch much information related to the investigation.The officials also did not seem interested in sharing the information with public. The doors of the media point were locked and reporters waited outside SIT office expecting that officials would speak, however it did not happen.
