According to police, when the victim was in the hotel room along with her friend, three persons threatened her with a toy weapon and one of them allegedly assaulted the victim sexually.

HYDERABAD: Four persons have been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a Delhi-based woman at a hotel in the city. Based on a complaint from the 20-year-old, Banjara Hills police had registered cases on Thursday and started an investigation. According to police, when the victim was in the hotel room along with her friend, three persons threatened her with a toy weapon and one of them allegedly assaulted the victim sexually.

The arrested persons are Vamshi Krishna Reddy, a real estate businessman, Ashok, Shabbir and Mahendra Reddy. All the accused are natives of Nellore of Andhra Pradesh.K Srinivas, inspector, said that Vamshi Krishna Reddy is the key accused and he committed sexual assault on the victim while other accused threatened the victim. On August 15, the victim and her two friends arrived at RGIA from Delhi. Later, they boarded Oyo City hotel located at Banjara Hills.

The three friends came to the city as tourists. The victim was lodged in a room on the fourth floor while her two friends were staying in a room on second floor. According to police, one of the victim’s friends wanted to go out to bring food. The victim came to the elevator from her room. The accused came to the place and got into the elevator and asked the victim to come inside the elevator. However, victim refused and returned to room. Later, their friend went out and the victim was along with the other friend in room.

“The accused gained entry into the victim’s room and found the two women inside. While three accused threatened a woman, the accused Vamsi Krishna Reddy assaulted the victim sexually and left the place. On Thursday, the victim lodged a complaint. Based on complaint, we registered cases and arrested four persons in connection with the offence,” inspector said.


Police have registered cases under section 376 (punishment for rape), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) read with 109 (punishment of abetment) of IPC.
