HYDERABAD: In a relief for the aspirants for PG medical admissions in Telangana state, a vacation bench of the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday granted stay on the GO issued by state government increasing the fee for the convener and management seats. The stay will be in operation for four weeks.

The bench of Justice Challa Kodanda Ram and Justice N Balayogi made this order in a PIL case moved as lunch motion challenging the GOs issued by the Telangana government on fee hike. Petitioners’ counsel Arjun told the bench that as per the old fee structure, the admission fee for MD/MS courses in the convener quota was Rs 3.20 lakh per seat and under management quota it was Rs 5.80 lakh. Now, the government has increased the fee abnormally by fixing Rs 6.90 lakh for convener quota seat and Rs 24 lakhs under management quota.
