Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates first phase of Metro

HYDERABAD: The  long-cherished dreams of Hyderabadis of travelling in metro rail is over with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the first phase of  Hyderabad Metro Rail project covering  30 km stretch from Nagole to Miyapur.Prime Minister along with Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Governor, ESL Narasimhan, Union minister for housing and urban affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, Telangana’s IT minister K T Rama Rao and BJP State chief K Laxman in the much-awaited train took a five kilometre up and down ride from Miyapur to Kukatpally along with host of dignitaries amidst tight security.

The Prime Minister unveiled a pylon of the HMR at Miyapur, the main terminus and dedicated the project to the nation. He released a brochure of the HMR on the occasion. It was a proud day for loco pilots S Supriya (Nizamabad) and M  Rajasekhara Chary (Hyderabad) as they were in the drivers’ seat for the  
inaugural run.

Prime Minister Modi watched a presentation on the Metro Rail project (3 minutes) at the Miyapur station. 
He also launched a mobile application “T Savaari’’. The app provides quick interface for metro services.The mobile App would provide a comprehensive transport solution with information on all modes of transport for a journey whether it is a TSRTC bus, MMTS train, and metro trains covering 16 services. 

Commuters downloading the app would get an update on the nearest TSRTC bus stops and efforts have been on to provide live, information on the bus frequency apart from ticket tokens that can be purchased at counters at all the metro stations, a prepaid card of `200 would be made available for passengers.

Cops probe rumours of mayor quitting

Social networking sites, amidst all the buzz surrounding GES-2017 and Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) launch, found space for Hyderabad mayor Bonthu Rammohan who allegedly tendered his resignation as he felt he was sidelined during the mega event. To everyone’s surprise, the mayor did not find his name on the plaque of the HMR pylon which was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.  Hours after the rumour of Rammohan tendering his resignation went viral on social networking sites, the mayor brought the issue to the notice of the cyber crime police for a thorough inquiry and sought action. Meanwhile,  this information went viral on social networking sites of Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp.  

KCR should apologise for Metro Rail delay: Ponnala
Warangal:
Blaming Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for the delay in the execution of Hyderabad Metro Rail project and the resultant cost escalation, former PCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah has demanded that the CM tender an unconditional apology to the people of the State for the delay and the additional expenditure of over `4,000 crore caused due to it.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Lakshmaiah stated that though the Metro Rail project was conceived when the Congress was in power, Rao, after forming government in 2014, delayed it on one pretext or the other. In fact, KCR had opposed metro rail in 2011 but was unabashedly taking credit now for it, he ridiculed. “Metro rail is the brainchild of the Congress  government and now, after creating hurdles, the TRS government is taking credit for it.
