HYDERABAD: A month long effort of Banjara Hills police waiting in and outside KBR Park helped in catching a notorious chain snatching offender. The accused N Narasaiah (25), a car driver by profession was involved in seven chain snatching offenses only in KBR Park by targeting women walkers. The police recovered 250 gm gold, one stolen car and also arrested a gold smith who has been purchasing the stolen gold chains. DCP A Venakteswar Rao said, since 2016, accused Natakar Narasaiah alias Narsimma alias Rishi, was involved in seven cases of chain snatching at KBR Park. Narasaiah was living in Nandi Nagar in Banjara Hills. 

As soon as he entered teens, the DCP said, Narasaiah became habituated to bad vices and for earning easy money. He had stolen a parked car from the house of a doctor, where his mother was working as a maid. But, he did not sold the car. Further, he had committed two burglaries in KPHB police station limits. The accused who knew that couples visit the KBR Park, went to them posing as security and extorted money from them threatening to disclose about their activities in the public place.

“Recently, on August 19, he committed an offence. Based on the description given by the victim and matching them with the previous clues, several personnel were deployed at the park in civil dresses, for over a month,” said police.  DCP said on Tuesday, police found Narasaiah walking in the park and was intercepted. Initially he claimed to be an engineering student, but on interrogation, he confessed to have committed the offences.
