HYDERABAD: A 38-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by inhaling nitrogen after leading her daughter to death by administering the same gas. And bizarrely, the woman left a note requesting police not reveal any details to the media.
According to police, Arthi and her seven-year-old daughter Tashi were found dead at their residence in Mettuguda under Chilkalguda police limits on Friday.
Arthi allegedly placed a polythene cover on Tashi’s face and connected a pipe from a nitrogen gas cylinder to the polythene, and she herself inhaled the gas leading to their deaths, the police said.
According to police, on a few occasions, Arthi had asked her family members if they will be able to take care of her daughter if she dies suddenly. Arthi, an MBA graduate, was married to Siddarth a businessman for 10 years. Siddarth died due to ill health in June this year. Since then, she went into depression and preferred to be alone most of the time. She also skipped food frequently due to which her health also deteriorated.
Family members told police that ten days ago, a nitrogen cylinder was delivered at their home by an e-tailer. When her mother-in-law asked about the purpose of nitrogen, Arthi told that a friend had ordered and she will collect the cylinder after returning to the city after a few days.
Arthi is said have again asked her in-laws and other relatives if they can take care of her daughter after her death.
During their enquiries, police also found that there were disputes between Arthi and family members over a property issue. It is suspected that Arthi wanted to sell off the property registered in her husband’s name, but his family members were against it.
After receiving the information from neighbours, police reached the home, recovered the bodies and shifted them to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
