HYDERABAD: A bike sold over global online market place Olx.in and the Aadhar card of the seller were some of the crucial leads that helped Hyderabad Police bust a 12-member-gang of notorious offenders comprising a family of seven including three women and two siblings from another family including one women, who were involved in House Burglaries in the tri-commissionerates in the city.

Police recovered over Rs 2 crore worth property from them. The gang invested the earnings from the stolen property for purchasing lands and flats, said Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar. Based on the clues from CCTV cameras and detailed analysis of Nenu Saitham cameras, cops nabbed the main suspect Mohd Saddam Ali alias Imran Ali(23) and on analysis of his finger and shoe print, detected 34 cases.

The North Zone Police while investigating a house burglary case at Bowenpally, found the suspects used an Bajaj Avenger bike. Based on the bike's registration number, they traced the owner and found that the bike was sold to him on olx. He later provided the cops with the Aadhar copy of the seller, which led the cops to Saddam. Another vital clue was a footprint that matched with that of Saddam’s at a crime scene in Trimulgherry.

He initially confessed to his role in a few cases, but further matching his finger prints, police found out that he was involved in three cases under Osmania University Police station limits. On further interrogation, he confessed to 34 offences in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda, which he committed along with his childhood friend Moka Potharaju (22), parents, elder brother, elder sister, younger sister, brother-in-law, Potharaju’s elder sister and two receivers and their friend who gave them shelter.

Anjani Kumar said Saddam and Potharaju started committing offences while they were juveniles and were arrested on multiple occasions by Police at different parts of erstwhile Warangal district, Malkajgiri, Nacharam and Keesara Police stations.

The gang would rent houses near posh localities in the city and Saddam’s brother Anwar Ali pretended to be an insane person and sat near garbage dumps in the area and kept a watch over the residents and then recced for locked houses moving on bikes.

“After fixing their targets, they broke open into locked houses through rear doors and windows and decamped with the booty. Later they converted the stolen property into immovable property and even purchased single bedroom flat worth over Rs 2 lakh at Malkajgiri which is registered on Saddam’s elder sister Ashiya Begum.” he said.
