HYDERABAD: Casino organiser Chikoti Praveen is expected to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday. The ED is investigating the alleged usage of high-end imported cars under benami names, with indications of tax evasion. ED sources say that the agency has identified several individuals as purchasers of high-end luxury cars, worth Rs 3 crore to Rs 4 crore, by evading taxes, including Chikoti Praveen, Naseer, and Mohsin.

They said that an Economic Case Information Report (ECIR) has been filed against the three aforementioned individuals under the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act, leading to notices being issued for their appearance on May 15.

The ED is also expected to inquire about Chikoti Praveen’s alleged involvement in an illegal poker game in Thailand, which led to his detention by Thai authorities. Furthermore, Praveen’s activities related to the violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) in organising casinos in Nepal and Indonesia’s Bali region are also under scrutiny.
