HYDERABAD: At least six robbers allegedly entered a Khazana Jewellery shop in Chandanagar, on National Highway 65, on Tuesday morning and fired guns at employees before fleeing with property. The incident occurred within a few minutes of the shop opening. No casualties were reported.

An employee who was in the shop said the robbers had pistols in their pockets and that every person entered wearing two shirts and masks. “We felt that today was our last day in the shop,” said the shop employee.

After entering the shop, the robbers allegedly threatened the employees to hand over the locker keys. “Then, they fired at the assistant manager Satish Kumar’s leg and he was badly injured. He is currently in a hospital and stable now. I have been informed that the doctors are treating him to remove a bullet from his body. They beat cashier Samba, Dhanunjay and other managers,” said the employee.

He said that as the lockers were secure, they did not steal gold but instead took silver ornaments from the shop.

Before the police could reach the shop, the robbers fled with the loot.

Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Avinash Mohanty and other officials reached the jewellery shop. Police said they would provide more details after conducting an inquiry.

The police have formed teams to track down the suspects.
