CURE collects Rs 2,558 crore in property tax, OTS scheme boosts revenue in 2025–26

Officials said the increase was driven largely by a 90% interest waiver on arrears under a One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme, which yielded Rs 548 crore.

HYDERABAD: The Core Urban Region (CURE) — comprising GHMC, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) — collected Rs 2,558.80 crore in property tax for 2025–26. Before the merger of 27 ULBs, the GHMC alone collected Rs 2,038 crore in 2024–25.

Officials said the increase was driven largely by a 90% interest waiver on arrears under a One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme, which yielded Rs 548 crore. GHMC secured Rs 233 crore, CMC Rs 189 crore and MMC Rs 126 crore under OTS.

CMC, covering Serilingampally, Kukatpally and Quthbullapur, emerged as the top contributor with Rs 1,000.36 crore, aided by corporate offices, MNCs, commercial hubs and dense residential areas. GHMC (Charminar, Rajendranagar, Khairatabad, Shamshabad, Secunderabad and Golconda) followed with Rs 995.82 crore, while MMC (Malkajgiri, Uppal and LB Nagar) recorded Rs 562.62 crore. Key contributors included Serilingampally, Kukatpally, Khairatabad and Secunderabad zones.

From 2026-27, the three civic bodies will collect property tax independently through separate accounts. Under the GHMC Act, 1955, a 5% rebate is offered if the full year’s property tax is paid by April 30. Accordingly, GHMC, CMC and MMC have launched the Early Bird Scheme for 2026-27, offering a 5% rebate on current-year tax paid between April 1 and 30. The rebate excludes arrears. The civic bodies expect to mobilise Rs 800 crore to Rs 1,000 crore under the scheme and have urged taxpayers to avail the benefit.
