HYDERABAD: A 40-year-old doctor was found dead inside his car parked beside the Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Rampally Dayara under Keesara police limits on Tuesday. Police said the doctor, Pasala Joseph Vinod Kumar, a resident of Keesara and a native of Kamareddy, allegedly administered himself an unidentified injection.
Before his death, Vinod sent his live location to his wife. When he stopped responding to her calls and the location remained fixed near the ORR, she alerted the police. Officers traced the vehicle and found him dead inside.
Based on a complaint by his father, Pasala Arogyamaiah, police registered a case of abetment of suicide under Section 108 of the BNS. The father alleged that Vinod had been facing mental harassment from his wife, Pasala Veenapani, whom he married about 18 years ago. The couple has two children.
He alleged that she frequently quarrelled with his son, restricted his contact with family members and controlled his finances. He added that Veenapani had prevented Vinod from living with his parents since the time they got married.
In January this year, Vinod invited his parents to their home to discuss the issue. However, when they attempted to speak, Veenapani allegedly refused to engage and instead picked a quarrel. Since then, they had not visited Vinod’s house.
Police said Vinod died after administering an injection through an IV cannula inserted into his right hand. An investigation is under way.
