HYDERABAD: The EAGLE force has attached properties worth around Rs 6 crore allegedly acquired from the proceeds of illegal Alprazolam trafficking in a case registered at Bodhan in Nizamabad Commissionerate. The properties were attached on August 17 and 19 under Section 68(F) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, following confirmation by the competent authorities in Chennai and Mumbai.
The action followed the arrest of 15 accused persons, including Amar Singh Deshmukh, Baburao Baswaraj Kadere and Mallepula Laxman Goud, by the EAGLE force and Bodhan police. Investigators had seized 32.5 kg of Alprazolam from the accused.
The probe revealed that the accused, along with their associates and relatives, had allegedly purchased movable and immovable assets using money generated through Alprazolam trafficking.
Investigators identified properties linked to three accused persons, their associates and relatives, including 9.06 acres of agricultural land, 1,370 square yards of open plots, a chemical factory, four cars and two two-wheelers.
Officials verified ownership and other supporting documents, including revenue passbooks, sale deeds, property tax receipts, building permissions, vehicle registration certificates and purchase invoices.
While the government valuation of the properties was estimated at around Rs 2.5 crore, their market value was assessed at approximately Rs 6 crore.
The investigation also uncovered links between the Alprazolam supply network and the adulteration of toddy.
In separate cases registered at Nasrullabad and Gandhari police stations in Kamareddy district, illegal toddy depot operators allegedly used Alprazolam to prepare adulterated toddy. Several consumers fell seriously ill after consuming it, with some losing consciousness.
Officials identified 68 victims in the Nasrullabad case and 15 in the Gandhari case, all of whom were provided medical treatment. Cases were registered under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act and the Telangana Excise Act.
