KOCHI: Kalanjali is back with a wide range of saris and salwar materials to suit your taste and style. Available in tribal prints and motifs, the saris are brought from Madhya Pradesh and are on display at the Pradarsan hall of BTH Hotel.
Be it for a party or for everyday use, saris in Kosa tusser silk, kalamkari prints and kantha work are available at affordable rates.
“I specifically asked for innovative designs because I know what the women of today want,” said Meela Pradeep, owner of Kalanjali.
If you are a lover of cotton then go for the Maheswari prints which are priced at Rs 1,600 or the Narayanpet saris priced at Rs 500 onwards.
Available in bright colours, the pallu and border of the Narayanpet saris come in rich traditional prints and are good for everyday wear, feels Pradeep. The tusser silk or Kosa silk, known for its purity and texture, is available in natural shades of beige and cream. Saris with madhubani tribal paintings on them are also on display.
The kalamkari painted saris, which Pradeep feels is just becoming popular in the state, have had a good number of buyers.
“Normally you don’t find many opting for Kalamkari prints as they are a bit expensive.
But I’ve had a good sale,” said Pradeep. The saris are priced between Rs 6,000 and Rs 9,000.
Salwar sets in vegetable dyes, block prints and with prints of gods and animals are available. Salwar materials in Kosa silk, maheswari and cottons range from Rs 550 to 3000.
The exhibition-cum-sale is on till November 6 and is open from 9.30 am to 8.30 pm. For more details contact Meela Pradeep at 9846225733.
