Music, especially melodies, has the capability to take you places.

The songs of noted composers like O N V Kurup, Sreekumaran Thampi, Baburaj and Dhakshinamurthy will strike a chord in the minds of music lovers of all ages. Keeping this in mind singer Cochin Mansoor is gearing up to take music lovers to the 70s and 80s, when Malayalam music was at its best, with his ‘Sangeetha Yathra’.

With an aim to enter the Guinness Book of World Records, Mansoor is set for a singing marathon where he will render popular Malayalam classics continuously for 24 hours. Mansoor has worn the hats of a dramatist, mimicry artist and a painter during his long career which started in 1978. Later he found his true calling in music and began concentrating in mastering the art. He soon gained popularity as the only singer in the state who can render songs continuously without any mistakes.

His soulful singing attracted the attention of playback singer Unni Menon, who noticed the dedication in Mansoor’s singing. Mansoor’s concerts are lively as well as informative due to his vast knowledge about anything related to the songs he is rendering. The music director, the lyricist, the singers, the actors in the movie and even the awards accorded to the movie are etched in Mansoor’s memory and he shares this information with his audience before every song.

To know more about your favourite songs, head straight to Changampuzha Park, Edapally, and be a part of Mansoor’s musical extravaganza, which will start from 5 pm on Saturday and will conclude on Sunday.
