Thousands pay tributes

KOCHI: Kochi, the city which has witnessed many of the transformations in the lives of Mercy Ravi and Union Minister Vayalar Ravi, bade adieu to Mercy Ravi on Saturday.

Hundreds of people from all walks of life paid their last respects to the departed when the body was brought to their residence at Jawahar Nagar.

Party workers in large numbers, led by Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy and KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala, were present at the Kochi International Airport when the body was brought from Chennai around 1. 30 p.m.

Vayalar Ravi had accompanied the body from Chennai. Their children Liza Rohan, Lakshmi Ravi and Ravi Krishna were in Kochi.

Various political personalities, including Food and Civil Supplies Minister C Divakaran, Revenue Minister K P Rajendran, K C Venugopal MP, T P Peethambaran Master MP, K P Dhanapalan MP, UDF convener P P Thankachan, Justice V R Krishna Iyer, Justice K K Narendran, Kerala Congress leader K M Mani, former minister T U Kuruvilla, Shibu Baby John, M M Lawrence, Sree Sankara University of Sanskrit, Kalady, former vicechancellor K S Radhakrishnan, AITUC leader P Raju, Joseph Vazhakkan and Johny Nellore paid homage to Mercy Ravi.

Later, the body was taken to the parental house of Ravi at Vayalar around 4 p.m.
