KOCHI: The Gateway Hotel

The Gateway Hotel on Marine Drive is all set to celebrate Onam. An intricate floral carpet has been laid to welcome the guests. The hotel has various exclusive packages to offer for stay as well as food and beverages. Onasadya, the elaborate traditional Onam fest, has been organised at the Utsav Restaurant on August 23. The dishes are being specially compiled by chef Damu, who has mastered the art of ethnic cuisine over the years. The sadya will be laid out in the traditional way on a banana leaf and is priced at Rs 550 plus taxes. There are special attractive packages available for guests who would want to stay during the period. The prices start from Rs 1500 per night per person on twin sharing (inclusive of taxes). Travancore Court

The Travancore Court is all set to serve a delicious onasadya on this Thiruvonam day for Kochiites. Amidst 30 varieties of traditional vegetarian dishes, hot rice is served on the traditional, tender green plantain leaves. Wrap up with three lip-smacking varieties of payasam. The banquet hall ‘Swati Thirunal’ is getting ready for the occasion. So step in to celebrate the legacy of Onam with Travancore Court between 12.30 noon and 3 pm. Vallasadya at Presidency

The famous Aranmula Vallasadya comes alive in the city at Hotel Presidency. Complete with more than 48 traditional dishes and a choice of payasams, the vallasadya will be served to the accompaniment of traditional folk songs. The event is on from August 20 to August 23. Bookings are open.

 There will be a range of buffet lunches at the different restaurants of Abad on Thiruvonam day, August 23, from 12 noon to 3 pm. At Hotel Abad Plaza Regency Restaurant, there will be non-vegetarian buffet lunch. Renaissance

The Renaissance is gearing up for Grand Onam celebration this year by serving a grand Onam Sadya on 23rd from 12 noon to 3 pm in addition to their usual meals.  Yuvarani Residency has arranged a special buffet lunch with the Onam specialties everyday at the Cheenavala Restaurant from 12 noon to 3.30 pm, till the 22nd of this month. On the 23rd, there will be a sumptuous  Elasadhya, with live instrumental music with onam collections. King Maveli will welcome everybody. The lucky dip on the same day will offer the winner a holiday for 2 nights and 3 days stay in an enchanting  resort. There is a special counter for parcels and payasam on this day. Delicacies at Dream
