KOCHI: The Heart Care Foundation has selected cardiac surgeon Dr P Venugopal for the Heart Care Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award, coinciding with the World Heart Day.
The award will be presented to Dr Venugopal by Kerala High Court Chief Justice J Chelameswar at Gangothri Hall here at 4.30 p.m. on September 26.
Dr Venugopal, chairman of Alchemist Medical Division, New Delhi, has been associated with over 50,000 openheart surgeries and 12,000 closedheart surgeries, a press release said.
The foundation, in association with the Cardiological Society of India and Lions District 324 E4, has arranged various programmes on the day. A free blood screening for cholesterol and sugar will be held at 7.30 a.m. and an exhibition at 9.30 a.m. A painting competition will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. A cooking session has been planned for women to prepare healthy food. A 'Hridayasangamam' has been arranged for those who have undergone bypass surgery and angioplasty, at 2.30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Medical Trust Hospital has announced different programmes on the World Heart Day on Durbar Hall Ground at 5.30 p.m. Lyricist and music director Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri will be present on the occasion.
