PIRAVOM: As a Syrian Christian, T M Jacob kept good relations with the Jacobite faction.
The Jacobite church had bestowed on him the rare honor of ‘Commander’ from the Patriarch of the Antioch Ignatius Zack I for his valuable contribution to the church.
He was the Church managing committee member and the vice-chairman of the Education Trust, church secretary Thambu George Thukalan said.
He also kept good relations with other churches and religions. Thambu said, “ He helped the church at the time of difficulties. But he never indulged any one-sided activity.”
The Orthodox Church has the same opinion about Jacob. Bishop of Kandanad West Diocese Thomas Mar Athanasius said, “Jacob was a pacifist while dealing with the church dispute. He kept a neutral stand on it. At times he would say that the unification of Jacobite and Orthodox factions is needed.”
