KOCHI: Dr Shabeer Khan R Rowthar, working with the Lakeshore Hospital here, was cheated of `11,14,500 in an internet mobile banking fraud. A case was registered on Wednesday with the Central Police in this regard. According to the police, the money was stolen from the doctor’s Axis bank account on March 30 and 31.

It was then transferred to two other banks located outside the state.

“The fraudsters had made a duplicate of the doctor’s SIM card and blocked his phone connection. They then used the duplicate card to conduct the banking fraud,” SI Anantha Lal said.

The doctor has been maintaining his account with the Axis Bank at Rajaji Road. The police are investigating  the matter.
