Ernakulam Press Club’s C V Pappachan Endowment Award was presented to D Shyjumon here on Monday.
Former Indian football team captain I M Vijayan did the honours. Shyjumon is a senior sub-editor with the Mathrubhumi. The sports feature titled ‘Golden Threads; Vijayathinupinnile Suvarna Noolizhakal’ fetched him the prize. The award carries a purse of `20,000 and a citation.
The award was instituted by the family of the late C V Pappachan, one of Ernakulam’s pioneering journalists. He had also served as a teacher at the Kerala Press Academy. Press Club secretary M S Sajivan chaired the meeting while K V Sudhakaran, one of Pappachan’s students, delivered the commemorative lecture.
