Variety can add spice to any endeavour. Film-maker Sajin Baabu is out there to make this work on his new feature film, ‘Unto the Dusk.’

He has been collecting signatures of people for the past few days for making the posters of the film. His aim is to collect as many as 1,000 signatures for the initiative. “My intention is to announce that I am making a film for the people. Adopting this method for the promotion of the movie, I also want to break the norms that are commonly followed in the film industry,” says Sajin.

Sajin has been randomly collecting the signatures from everyone he meets. After getting the signatures, he hands over a leaflet to the person through which he wants to ensure that his film reaches everyone well before it is completed.

Once he collects all the 1,000 signatures, a friend of his has agreed to create the posters.

The film, being made on a shoestring budget,  revolves around the angst and circumstances of the present day youth. The lead character, Aloshi, is a theology student who leaves the seminary without completing the course. The film sketches his spiritual journey from then onwards.

The producers of the movie are Sajin’s friends, who are collectively termed  ‘Cynosure.’ “Each friend of mine has shelled out money for my film. For transporting the equipment for the film shoot, my close friend gave me his car,” Sajin says.

The cast comprises actors with a theatre background and the shooting is progressing at Wayanad and Munnar.

Sajin, who has been in the film field from the age of 17, has made several short films and documentaries before. His films have been screened in around 30 international film festivals until now and have bagged awards too.

‘Unto the Dusk’ will be a film without song sequences and it is expected to be completed in eight months.
