GCDA to hold workshop on Kochi's growth

Continuing with its efforts to elevate Kochi to a global city through its ‘Vision 2030’, the Greater Cochin Development Authority is coming up with a two-day workshop on Kochi’s growth potential and its technical feasibility.

Speaker G Karthikeyan will inaugurate the two-day workshop ‘Vision 2030, Kochi’ at Hotel Taj Gateway at 9.30 am on Thursday. The valedictory function on Friday will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. GCDA chairman N Venugopal said that the attempt is to bring experts in various fields under one umbrella.

“Technical experts from various fields will share their opinions on improving the infrastructure facilities here and to sort out various issues related to transport, sanitation, solid waste management and disaster management. It is the first time GCDA is attempting such a large-scale initiative,” he said.

The inaugural function will have ministers K M Mani, K Babu and Manjalamkuzhi Ali along with Mayor Tony Chammany. The technical sessions will be attended by former Union Minister S Krishnakumar, former Industries Secretary T Balakrishnan, Cochin Port Trust chairman Paul Antony, architect Kuldeep Singh, V Venu and T K Jose. The valedictory function at 4 pm on Thursday will have ministers V K Ebrahim Kunju and Anoop Jacob.
