KOCHI: Worthy compositions are indispensable for producing memorable songs, veteran singer Padmashri KP Udaya Bhanu has said. He was speaking at an interactive session called ‘Poomukham’, organised by the Heart Light Association in Kochi on Sunday.

He warned the new generation to wake up to the traps hidden in the reality shows flooding television channels nowadays.

“The reality shows have simply become a source of income for a small fragment of people. They do not highlight quality music or musical talent. The young generation should realise the hollowness of such shows to save music,” the singer said.

“They should maintain their individuality by expressing individual opinions,” he said.A documentary titled ‘Udaya Geethangal’, based on the life of KP Udaya Bhanu, and directed by VK Mohan, was also screened on the occasion.

K K Prakash, president, Heart Light Association, poet Jagadeeshwaran Krishnachakram, writer and activist T Damu and VK Mohan of Sabarmati Foundation Ashram also spoke on the occasion.
