Maoists: HC poser to government on bail plea

The Kerala High Court on Wednesday directed the State Government to inform whether there is any evidence that the accused persons who were arrested during a meeting allegedly to form a students’ organisation of Communist Party of India (Maoist) had links with any banned outfit.

Justice S S Satheesachandran issued the directive while considering the bail plea of Ajayakumar alias Mannur Ajayan who was allegedly the mastermind of the meeting.

According to the prosecution, five persons - Rajesh, Gopal, Devarajan, Shiyas and Bahuleyan along with two minor girls who are the children of Shyna and Roopesh from Mavelikara, were present at the meeting held in December, 2012.

The police submitted that the petitioner was the Secretary, Kerala State Revolutionary Democratic Front, a banned organisation under Andhra Pradesh Security Act,1992. The accused has also been involved in a case where the Palakkad Collector was held hostage.
