The Nano car painted by Bose Krishnamachari in connection with the Kochi Muziris Biennale has fetched Rs 13,01,402 at the auction.

Titled Maximum Nano, the car was placed for auction under the installation category on the Saffronart website. The bidding that opened on Monday at 8 pm lasted till Tuesday 8.30 pm. The auction amount will be handed over to the Kochi Biennale Foundation.

The Nano car, which was serene white in colour, was painted with ‘stretched bodies’, a design under the Amoortha picture series. The car, which carries the signature of actor Mohanlal, was donated to the Kochi Biennale by city-based Coffee Beans shop and Le Gallery 360, Thiruvanathapuram. Later, Bose painted the car and it was displayed during the Biennale at Fort Kochi. The car was also showcased at Lulu Mall, Edappally, after the Biennale.

As per the norms of Saffronart, the Mumbai-based auction website, the details of the bidding will not be published.

Bose Krishnamachari said that he had selected the Nano for the purpose as it is considered  the car of common man.

“The maximum colours were used for painting the art car which was done with automated paint. It has also been laminated,” Bose said.
