Three-day workshop on marine primary production begins

The three-day India-EU workshop on marine primary production, jointly organised by the Nansen Environmental Research Centre (India), and Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS), was inaugurated by V N Sanjeevan, Director, Centre for Marine Living Resources and Ecology (CMLRE) at the KUFOS Auditorium, Panangad on Wednesday. The workshop is being held under the auspices of Indo-MARECLIM.

Indo-MARECLIM aims at facilitating and improving institutional cooperation between European Union member states, associated countries and India. It includes partners from the UK, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Norway. The workshop aims at bringing students, faculty members and scientists from India and EU countries on a common platform to discuss the current status of scientific work on marine primary production in India.

B Madhusoodana Kurup, Vice-Chancellor, KUFOS, presided over the function. Seventeen delegates from EU and associated countries and scientists from ISRO, ICAR, MoES, CSIR and other Indian universities and research institutions are participating in the workshop. The workshop will conclude on March 15.
