“‘Memories’ is not yet another spick-n-span action thriller, though the story revolves around a cop,” says Jeethu Joseph about his upcoming Prithviraj-starrer, the shooting of which will begin next month. The director who is all upbeat post the smashing success of ‘My Boss’ starring Dileep and Mamtha says that ‘Memories’ is a family drama that has all the quintessential elements of an entertainer.

“The film narrates the story of the man, who clings to his past and is forced to confront his present. My hero is not a valorous cop. He is in fact a drunkard, a typical one whose hands tremble if he is late to have his regular shots in the morning,” says the director who further adds, “being a police officer, he investigates a mystery or two, but then that is only another episode of his otherwise quotidian life. The story is poles apart from my previous action thriller, ‘Detective’.”

‘Memories’ is the next cop outing of Prithviraj, after Rosshan Andrews’s ‘Mumbai Police’, the shooting of which is progressing. The actor is of late flying high with the success of his recent hits. “We have been discussing this project for a while. Raju has ample scope for performance in this movie,” says the director about his state award winning hero.

Meghna Raj and Mia George are the heroines of the movie. Meghna Raj, who has a handful of Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada projects in her kitty including ‘Up and Down: Mukalil Oraalundu’ and ‘Good Bad and Ugly’ plays Prithviraj’s wife in the movie. Mia who debuted as heroine with Shajoon Kariyal’s ‘Chettayees’ last year will don the role of a journalist in the movie. “Unlike my previous flicks, ‘Mummy and Me’ and ‘My Boss’ in which my heroines Archana Kavi and Mamtha Mohandas had enough screen space, this is more of a hero-oriented film. But the heroines also have an integral role. I do not believe in casting female actors as side-kicks,” says Jeethu.

Nedumudi Venu, Vijayaraghavan, Rahul Madhav, Suresh Krishna, Sreejith Ravi and Vanitha Krishnachandran are the other actors of ‘Memories’. Music director Sejo John, who had associated with Jeethu for his last two hits, ‘Mummy and Me’ and ‘My Boss’ is expecting a hat-trick through ‘Memories’. The lyrics are also penned by Sejo. Vijay Yesudas has crooned one song. The major shooting location of the film will be Kochi. The film is being produced by Santha Murali.
