'Red tape must not hinder development'

Public Works Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju on Sunday inaugurated the Federal Village, a housing complex of 65 modern villas built on a seven-and-half-acre plot on the banks of the Periyar at Elookkara.

The minister said that the government and other agencies must work in unison to ensure the progress of the country and that bureaucratic red tape or regulatory issues should not stand in the way of development.

He added that the govt is formulating the ‘single window’ system to streamline applications, permissions and licence procedures to enable smooth completion of development projects. Federal Bank MD and CEO Shyam Srinivasan gave away the keys to the villa owners. P V Mathew, president of the Federal House Construction Co-op Society Ltd presided over the function.
