Despite an year after the installation of the high-mast lamp in front of the Hill Palace Museum, the Tripunithura Municipal authorities are yet to light the lamp.
According to the public, the apathetic attitude of the authorities towards lighting the lamp is affecting the safety of the museum. “It is a shame that the authorities are unable to ensure facilities to one of the prominent museums in Kerala. The security of the museum is at stake,” local people said.
According to them, the authorities are unaware about the value of the artifacts displayed at the museum. May of the exhibits are antique and hence demands security. In such a circumstance, proper lighting is necessary,” they added.
Meanwhile, the authorities had decided install two more high-mast lamps at Karigachira and Puthiyakavu. “The decision was taken to avoid accidents at these areas as the spots are highly prone to accidents. Vehicular movement has become difficult in these junctions,” said Tripunithura Municipal Councillor C K Sasi.
However no step has been taken in this regard yet. Sasi, who has introduced the proposal, said the mast lights will be switched on soon. “The mast light at other junctions will be installed soon,” he said.
