Bala Sahitya Award ceremony

Advertisements have turned truth into a mere soap; each day, the truth is melting and one day it will dissipate completely, and this is what the advertisements are teaching the children, said critic M Leelavathy.

She was speaking at the Kerala State Bala Sahitya Institute Award 2012 ceremony at Kochi in Saturday. She said that the focus of the institute is to show a trajectory where children can embrace literature with values. Leelavathy said that similar to those awards which were conferred for bravery, the government should consider giving awards to those children who hold on to truth. “A special fund should be formed to give those awards”, she said.

Critic M K Sanu who received the Bala Sahitya award said that the work produced by the institute should have a goal.

“Literature should enable them to think beyond caste and religion. Minister for Rural Development and Culture K C Joseph distributed the awards.

Apart from M K Sanu, Ambalapuzha Sreekumar, N P Hafiz Muhammad, Abdulla Paleri, P P Ramachandran, Bhavani Cheerath Rajagopalan, T R Rajesh, Jayachandran and P Pradeep are the other winners.
