Magician Shamsudheen casts a spell on Kochiites

Leaving the audience spellbound, magician Shamsudheen Cherpulassery performed his famous tricks at Durbar Hall Ground in Ernakulam the other day.

The event was organised as part of the weekend cultural celebrations organised by the district administration in association with the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi and District Tourism Promotion Council.

Shamsudheen, who is also a street magician and a snake charmer, was seen enthralling the public by converting pebbles into gold coins. These gold coins were placed in a box. When the box was opened, a cobra appeared!

But what caught the audience’s attention the most was the trick of converting a mango seed into a mango tree.  People even feasted on the mangoes produced from the magician’s pot.   Shamsudeen performed over 15 tricks.

Gold coins inhaled through his nose were taken out from other parts of his body.

Cracking jokes, he was seen keeping the audience interested till the end. His children Thahir and Musthafa aided their father at the performances.  District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth and Deputy Collector Mohandas Pillai were also present.

The Collector said that at a time when street magic is dying, people like Shamsudheen were trying to rejuvenate it.

The weekend cultural programmes are being held every Saturday at Durbar Hall open air theatre.
