Shruthi Subramanian, a class IV student of Global Public School, Thiruvaniyoor, is on cloud nine now. Not exactly because her exams are over and a long vacation is just around the corner, but because she has secured the first rank in Kerala in the seventh International Mathematics Olympiad conducted by the Science Olympiad Federation.
She also stands seventh internationally.
This is not the first time that this 9-year-old has proved her skill for numbers. She bagged the second rank in the state in the International Mathematics Olympiad last year.
On asked if she has ever feared the subject like many of her peers, pat comes the reply: “No.” “Maths is my favourite subject,” she adds. “She has always had a keen interest towards the subject. She spends a good amount of her time solving Math and logical reasoning questions,” adds her mother Lakshmi Krisshnan.
Besides her passion for numbers, Shruthi has another interest- one that may not find a place among many other kids her age- cooking.
Though it may not be hard-core cooking, she tries her hand at simple baking recipes for children that appear in the Tinkle magazine for kids. “She is fond of eating. That’s probably why she tries her hand at cooking too,” Lakshmi quips.
Sruthi is the daughter of Vijay Subramanian who is into business and Lakshmi Krisshnan who works as a data analyst in the city.
Shruthi’s sister Anju is a class I student of the Global Public School, Thiruvaniyoor.
