

Results of the higher secondary examination have brought good news to the district, with students in the Ernakulam district securing the highest pass percentage in the state. Ernakulam also bagged the honour of being the district with the highest number of students with A+ score.
This year, the pass percentage is 84.35. Last year also, Ernakulam raced ahead and came first by securing the highest pass percentage of 84.82. As many as 757 students secured A+ this year in the district, while it was 465 last year.
However, Ernakulam lagged behind when it came to the number of schools with 100 percent pass. The district came third, with four schools obtaining 100 percent pass, all private unaided schools.
The schools that scored 100 percent pass were the Rajagiri Higher Secondary School, Kalamassery, where 113 students appeared for the exam; the St Annes Higher Secondary School, Eloor, where 131 students appeared; the Gujarati Higher Secondary School, Mattancherry, where 133 students appeared; and the Vidyadhiraja Vidya Bhavan, Aluva, where 47 students appeared for the exam.
Last year, there were six schools, including one special school, that secured 100 percent pass in the district. Then, Rajagiri, St Annes and Vidyadhiraja were placed in the list of schools where all students who appeared for the exam became eligible for higher studies. As many as 29,808 students from 176 schools under three categories - government, aided and unaided - registered for the examination this year, of which 29,645 students appeared for the examination. The number of students who became eligible for higher studies was 25,006 .
In technical schools, 462 students registered, 461 appeared for the examination, and 405 passed. The pass percentage is 87.85, and 33 students secured A+.
In open schools, 6,198 students registered, 6,054 appeared, and 2,555 students passed. The pass percentage is 42, with one student securing A+. Under the special school category, 46 students from two schools appeared, of which 43 students became eligible for higher studies. The pass percentage is 93.47.The highest number of students appearing for the examination was 419 in the Government Girls’ HSS, of which 383 students passed.
