KOZHIKODE: Mahindra Motors has been ruling Indian roads since 1947, and today it is one of the unbeatable warriors. Starting from a wide range of three-wheelers and four-wheelers, its class ranges from multi-purpose to heavy vehicles.

Can Mahindra really produce quality two-wheelers? This question was raised in many minds when it launched the scooters Duro and Rodeo. But soon, the mindset changed and Mahindra gained a position in people's options list.

Mahindra has always thrilled us with its continuous experiments and a few months ago it was yet again a surprise to see its new launch 'Centuro', a premium class motorcycle. The 106.7 cc bike with a single cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled, MCI-5 engine is a good option for a typical user. A maximum power of 8.5 PS@7500 RPM and a maximum torque of 8.5 NM@5500 RPM is not bad, compared to other vehicles of its class.

The key feature of Centuro is its built-in anti-theft system, which sounds an alarm and locks down the engine if any kind of tampering is detected. This feature has been introduced in two-wheelers for the first time in India, which is better suited for our conditions,  since bike theft is a common issue.

The digital dashboard, which is a combination of both digital and analog meters, makes it different from its earlier model. Also, the advanced technology shows warnings and reminds you when your bike needs a service.

When we take a look at the bike, the first thing that grabs your attention is the muscular golden ribs. According to the manufactures, it gives the bike a rough look and makes it look tough. This model might seem a tad bit boring for youngsters as it is targeted at middle-aged working men.

There are some add-on advantages like a remote flip key with LED light, which is very useful at night. Besides, the 'find me' lamps feature allows you to locate your bike in crowded or unlit parking areas.

The bike will not be complete without mentioning its mileage. The company offers 85.4 kmpl, which is  quite tough to achieve in Indian conditions.

Though the company claims a good mileage, many of the customers are not very much satisfied with it.

However, for those who are not biking enthusiasts and who are economical, Centuro is a good option. The price ranges from Rs 46,559 for the N1 series and Rs 49,353 for the O1 series.
