KOCHI: Kerala Blasters FC have further strengthened their back line with the addition of three more defenders in James McAllister, Colin Falvey and Saumik Dey.
Scottish international McAllister will don the role of a player-coach at Blasters and brings with him the experience of having played in the English Championship and Scottish Premiership with teams like Bristol City and Aberdeen.
Falvey, from Ireland, is on loan from US third division side Charleston Battery where he is the club captain. The 29-year-old has already played football in England, New Zealand and more recently the United States.
The duo’s inclusion takes the number of international players in the team to 12, including marquee player and manager David James. The third of the latest recruits is Saumik Dey, who turns out to be another player with prior experience of working under Trevor Morgan at East Bengal. Dey has been with the Kolkata giants since 2006 and was the captain of the side that won the Federation Cup in 2010.
