Deen Dayal Kendra to Start Career-oriented Courses

KOCHI: The Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra (DDUKK) under the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) is all set to join hands with leading companies, including InfoPark and KITCO, to launch career-oriented programmes in mobile phone application development; and technology & management consulting.   The DDUKK, which has been established using  Rs 4 crore allotted by the the University Grants Commission offers MVoc in Mobile Phone Application Development and Technology & Management Consulting.

“We have been holding discussions with the companies. A MoU will be signed soon. Since the discussions are  in the preliminary stage, we are unable to reveal the names of the companies, expect InfoPark and KITCO, which had ensured cooperation before the courses were announced. We also expect cooperation of the partnering companies, in terms of resource sharing, internship and placement. Students pursuing  courses at DDUKK get assured internship, service of experts as guest faculty and placement,” said DDUKK director K A Zakariya. He said the vocational courses being offered by the DDUKK were unique.

“The most important feature of the courses is the ‘multiple entry and exit’ facility. Students who complete the first two semesters can opt to discontinue, and they will be awarded PG Diploma. The course is designed in such a manner that students who complete two semesters will be capable of taking up employment by that time. If such students later wish to complete the course, he/she will be able to rejoin and earn PG,” he said. “A postgraduate diploma holder from DDUKK will receive training in development of mobile applications on the Android, iOS, and Windows-8 platforms. Since the course is supported by UGC funding, the students need to pay very low fees. The total expense, including tuition fees, will not exceed Rs 22,000,” added Zakariya. B Tech, MBA, MCA graduates  are eligible to apply for the four-semester courses.

Meanwhile, the last date for submitting online applications for MVoc courses at the DDUKK has been extended to December 12.   The centre has invited applications for admission to the MVoc courses (Mobile Phone Application Development / Technology & Management Consulting).
