KOCHI: Vismaya Gana Sandhya, a musical tribute to five legendary music directors in Malayalam cinema, was held at DH Ground here on Saturday.
The event was organised by the EMC Trust to honour G Devarajan, V Dakshinamoorthy, K Raghavan, M S Baburaj and Salil Chowdhury.
At the function, 19 singers including P Jayachandran, Thoppil Anto, P Susheela, Vaani Jayaram, L R Eswari, Minmini, Vidhu Pratap and Unni Menon presented songs composed by the five musicians. The 30-odd songs were a treat for music buffs in the city.
A philharmonic orchestra of 101 artists led by Premsagar, son of playback singer Thoppil Anto, was the highlight of the event.
Playback singer Yesudas and music director M K Arjunan inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.
Some of the leading actors of Malayam cinema also attended the function that was directed by filmmaker Kamal.
