KOCHI: The Tripunithura mandalam committee of the CPI, on Tuesday, issued a statement against M Swaraj MLA, terming him as a perfect example of ‘arrogance personified’.
CPI Tripunithura mandalam secretary P V Chandrabose said it was the collective effort by LDF allies that helped Swaraj to register a victory in Tripunithura constituency in the Assembly elections.
“The CPI believes that Swaraj cannot write the history of the Communist movement in Kerala without mentioning the names of great CPI leaders like Achutha Menon, M N Govindan Nair, T V Thomas, P K Vasudevan Nair, Veliyam Bhargavan and C K Chandrappan. We do not understand why Swaraj, who remained silent when one of his close friends like Sindhu Joy who joined Congress party, is now making unwanted statements against CPI when some CPM rebels joined CPI. Even CPM district secretary P Rajeeve is saying that only seven members have joined CPI. If the number of workers is only seven, why is Swaraj worried that much,” asked Bose.
He also pointed out that earlier, Dr Manoj, Abdullakutty, S Sivaraman and Selvaraj had joined the Congress from the CPM. “Even at that time, Swaraj had remained silent, without uttering a word.
“Swaraj proved himself that he is a personification of arrogance and rudeness. He even called the red flag of CPI as a piece of waste cloth which is totally a disgrace to the entire Left movement. He should remember that the Red flag is the hope and expectation of everyone who believes in the Left progressive movement,” said Chandrabose.
