KOCHI: Music band Chillax Vadya came into existence on Saturday, promising a fresh musical experience to music buffs.
Conceived by four friends who have been doing stage programmes, the band predominantly is a blend of traditional folk music and classical music. The band was formed when singers Durga, Jins (both Asianet Star Singer fame), Meera Ranadive and Vishnu Achari, who had been doing separate stage programmes, joined hands with the other musicians. The band is sponsored by coffee shop Chillax, hence the title ‘Chillax Vadya.’
“All the band members enjoy Chillax and its ambience. Chillax Vadya is on the brink of ushering in a fresh angle to musical leaning, in the same way as Chillax brought in a fresh vibrancy to Kochi’s lifestyle,” said Chillax managing director V Kiran. The band members comprise vocalists Durga Viswanath, Jins Gopinath, Meera Ranadive and Vishnu Achari; Sajove Jobe (keyboard); Akash Menon (bass); Vijove Job (lead) and Gino Jose (percussion).The band was launched by music director Deepak Dev at a function that was also attended by actor-anchor Pearle Maaney. The debut performance of the band was held at Gokulam Convention Centre on Saturday. “The band draws inspiration from the excitement of folk rhythm and the charm of classical music. It does not differentiate between the old and new generations. It is perhaps the only band that offers a blend of traditional folk music and classical music,” added Kiran.
