KOCHI: Former KPCC general secretary T Siddique on Wednesday deposed before the Justice G Sivarajan Commission that he has neither spoken to Saritha S Nair nor met her till now. According to Siddique, he was unaware of any solar project and came to know about Saritha S Nair after her arrest in 2013.While examining Siddique, the commission showed the phone call list which revealed that there were nine calls made by Saritha to Siddique’s phone in 2013.
However, Siddique maintained that he has not spoken to Saritha and never met her.According to him, while taking part in any public function, he handed over the mobile phone to people who accompanied him. However, they never informed anything about calls from Saritha S Nair. He denied the statement given by Saritha that she had met Siddique and both spoke several times on phone.
He came to know about the solar-related scam only after the arrest of Saritha.
He doesn’t know whether any solar related project in his constituency was implemented with the assistance of Saritha’s solar company.He was also unaware of Saritha’s alleged connections with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and other ministers till now.
P P Thankachan Expresses Regret
UDF convenor P P Thankachan filed a petition tendering his apology over the public statement made against the commission a few weeks ago.In his petition, Thankachan submitted that during a party meeting in Ernakulam, many workers gave wrong information against the commission.This led him to make the statement claiming that the UDF was not satisfied with the functioning of the commission. However, on further inquiry, it was known that the commission has been functioning like an open court where every matter related to solar scam are discussed. He regretted the statement and said his intention was not to defame the panel.
