KOCHI: Clouds of uncertainty over the Vyttila and Kundannoor flyovers have seemingly drifted away. Monday will provide a bit of certainty to the dreams of unhindered traffic along the Edappally-Aroor stretch of NH 66 with the foundation stone being laid for Vyttila flyover.“The Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Vyttila flyover at 10.30 am on Monday,” Works Minister G Sudhakaran told Express on Friday after having visited the site.

“We will study the potential for future development before finalising the design.”
The tender proceedings for the flyover at Kundannoor Junction too have been completed, enabling the government to move ahead with the Vyttila flyover, he said. The Minister said all concerns regarding the construction of the flyover at Vyttila, the busiest junction in the state, will be addressed before launching the work.

“Some issues have been raised regarding the plan for traffic diversion and the design of the flyover,” Sudhakaran said.“All these issues will be addressed. Diverting the traffic at Vyttila is a challenge and I have directed the District Collector to hold talks with the PWD secretary, police officers and the National Highway authorities to evolve a plan for effective management of traffic. Regarding the design of the flyover, many people have given suggestions. There are many business establishments at Vyttila and the junction often witnesses massive traffic snarl-ups. So we will consider all suggestions and try to provide all facilities.”
