KOCHI: A day after film producer Sandra Thomas alleged that she was assaulted by actor and business partner Vijay Babu, the police said the actor continued to remain elusive. Meanwhile, Sandra Thomas is recuperating at a city hospital following the injuries sustained in the assault.

Police at Elamakkara station, where the complaint was lodged, said they could not record the statement of Vijay Babu as he was still on the run. It was also revealed that on the basis of the complaint lodged a probe was under way into the incident, Interestingly, Vijay Babu made a Facebook post alleging that a ‘fake case’ had been registered against him by Sandra, whom he referred to as the ‘most trusted partner’.

“Friends, a fake case has been filed against me by my most trusted partner and her husband for usurping the business property over which we had a dispute. I shall prove it otherwise and will be fine. Thank you for the concerns. Shall update,” he said in the post dated January 3. 

The actor along with Sandra Thomas jointly set up film production company Friday Film House, which has produced movies like ‘Philips and the Monkey Pen’, ‘Adi Kapyare Koottamani’, ‘Peruchazhi’ and ‘Aadu Oru Bheekarajeeviyanu’.

Based on the complaint lodged by Sandra, the Elamakkara Police have registered a case under Sections 294 (b) sings, recites or utters any obscene song, ballad or words, in or near any public place, 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder) and 506 (1) (punishment for criminal intimidation) of IPC.

According to the police, the incident occurred at the office of the film production company, Friday Film House, on Pottakuzhi Road on Tuesday noon.Officers said the alleged business disagreements resulted in the actor losing his cool.
